What’s Happening 28/11/10 :) Sunday, Nov 28 2010

Hey Guys

So we’ve been super busy with other assignments, but we have been meeting up and talking about different ideas. We also had our first supervisor meeting with Bride on Thursday 25/11.

On Wednesday we had a group meeting to discuss a variety of ideas. These included changes to how the project will work to the use of a green screen for our jester 🙂 So the idea for how the project will work is to have the 5 players at a sense each, all playing at the same time. One player will describe the object and the remaining will have to find the object through the sense that have.

Also mentioned was a group outing to funderland 🙂 Fingers crossed we do get to do this 🙂 I think that’s everything for our update. Oh yeah, forgot one thing, we now have a youtube account so add us as a friend if your on it. We have no vids uploaded but give us a couple of weeks and we can start recording 🙂 http://www.youtube.com/user/SenseSpinners2010?feature=mhum

Thats all for this weeks updates, remember to check out our twitter page for more updates and links 🙂

Research Images: Carnival Theme Tuesday, Nov 16 2010

Hey guys

Hope u guys had a great weekend and the weather wasn’t too harsh on you’s. Today, I realized we hadn’t put up any images on the research we had done into the carnival. With that, we thought we should fix the situation and show you guys what we have found.

As you can see we have quite a lot of images for our carnival theme 🙂 More updates will follow over the following days. In the meantime, why not check out our twitter account at twitter.com/SenseSpinner 🙂

Research Images: Hear Saturday, Nov 13 2010

And last but by no means least, the sense of hearing 🙂

Research Images: Taste Saturday, Nov 13 2010

As you can see from the last post, we couldn’t find too many pictures. However we hope this makes up for it. These images are all about our sense of taste.

Research Image: Smell Saturday, Nov 13 2010

See told you guys we had a lot of updates to do 🙂 In this one, we are focusing on the sense of smell. This is one of the most difficult senses we are facing, as we try and figure out what to do for it 🙂

Research Images: Touch Saturday, Nov 13 2010

In this post, we will be covering the sense of touch. For the presentation, we had a shoebox, that had 2 holes in the side and in the box, we had a soft and hard texture. Just like in the Sight post, the following images were added to our moodboard 🙂 Enjoy 🙂

Research Images: Sight Saturday, Nov 13 2010

Hey again,

so in this post, we will be uploading the images that were found when doing research for the sense of sight. Most of these were put onto our mood board for the presentation. There are some really interesting illusions that we found.

Character Development Saturday, Nov 13 2010

So in our 2nd update today, we thought we would share the ideas we have at the moment for the jester and the sceptre.

So what do u think? these are just concepts at the moment, they are going to be changed completely over the next few weeks 🙂

Narrative Saturday, Nov 13 2010

Hey Guys

In this update, we will be explaining the narrative of our game. We must admit, we had not thought about one until it was mentioned to us. Little did we know, that it would actually provide us with our main idea for the project.

As you know from the previous post, when the players come in and sit down, the jester will start to explain the background story to them. The narrative begins as the jester tells the players that one year ago in Carnival Town, a horrible and devastating event occurred. She goes on to say how the evil clown came to Carnival Town and broke the enchanted sceptre and sucked the fun and joy out of the town 😦 Since that tragic day, Carnival Town has never been the same. So, this is where the users will come into the narrative and it is explained to them that to bring back the fun and magic of the town, they will have to complete a game each where when they have been successful, a piece of the sceptre will be revealed.  When the game is complete, the sceptre will be restored and Carnival Town will be a fun and magical place once again.

So what do you guys think ? We all same to really like it and has given us a direction to go in with our idea.

Anyways, hope you guys are enjoying the weekend even with the terrible weather 🙂 and why not check out are twitter page and become a friend on facebook 🙂

Our Idea Friday, Nov 12 2010

Hey again

In this post, we wanted to share, the idea we have been working on for the past couple of weeks and the changes that have happened during this time.

As part of our presentation we were asked to come up with 1 sentence that gives a description of our project. For this we decided on

Entertaining and magical narrative led game for 9-12 year olds, exploring the 5 senses within a carnival theme.

So basically our idea is to create a 5 player game, where each player will play a sense each. The aim of this is to complete the sense game they have been given in order to get a piece of the sceptre. The players will be able to work as a group.

To help get a better understanding of our idea, we thought we would include the walk-through that we have at the moment. I know it will be hard to understand in terms of the narrative but it will be in the next post.

  • The users will walk into our room/area
  • From here, the user will receive a carnival ticket with a number from 1-5 on it.
  • The Jester will tell them to come in and sit down
  • Once everyone is seated, they will press the button
  • The Jester will then explain to them, the background story through animation
  • When this animation is over, the user will once again press the button to select a random sense.
  • Once the player has completed their, they will see the part of the sceptre slowly open.
  • As the game comes to a close, the sceptre will restore the carnival back to life.

Well, we hope you like this idea. The narrative will be explained in the next update, so it will make this easier to understand 🙂

As always don’t forget to check out our twitter account for updates 🙂
